Day 211⁄2 Day Excursion Damnoen Saduak Floating Market

The floating market of Damnoen Saduak, located about 100 kilometers southwest of Bangkok, is one of Thailand's most famous floating markets. The market, characterized by traders selling their goods from small boats on narrow canals, offers a glimpse into traditional Thai culture and how trade has been going on in this region for decades. This vibrant, well-known local market is characterized by numerous small boats loaded with colorful fruits and vegetables, carried by Thai women with bamboo hats, and is one of the few places in Thailand where you can observe this traditional way of buying and selling. The market is almost always full of traders, buyers and tourists, and the best way to experience the vibrant atmosphere at close range is by boarding a boat and sailing over the narrow canals, while buying fresh, local products from the sellers. This floating market is one of Thailand's most photographed sights and a true symbol of Bangkok. Let your taste buds be spoiled by the delicious local snacks offered on the market. The driver will take you back to Bangkok. Along the way we make a stop at a local family, where you get the chance to walk over the coconut plantation and meet the host. You learn how to make local delicacies with essential parts of the coconut tree. Another highlight of this stop is a guided tour of a traditional Thai house, where you will learn more about the culture and lifestyle of the Thai population. Notes: Duration: Half day (07:00-13:00), depending on the location of the hotel and the traffic situation. • Expect to arrive in Bangkok between 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. depending on the crowds on the market boats and the condition of the roads. Any excursions should therefore be city tours in Bangkok which start after 14:00 and do not include lunch. Alternatively evening tours can be booked so you have extra time to rest in the hotel before the excursion starts. • Our current price for 7 -10 people is based on the use of 2 vans (Toyota Commuter) and 1 guide. If you wish to travel in the same vehicle (bus), a surcharge applies; contact our travel advisor for more information.
